50,000 litres of hoarded edible oil seized, Tk 3 lakh fined

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized unusual stocks of around 50,000 litres of edible oil as part of nationwide drives to prevent an artificial crisis.

Separate mobile courts conducted operations in Chattogram's Hathazari, Karnaphuli Mozzartek Bazar, Sadarghat and Medical Road areas, Sirajganj's Salanga, and Faridpur's Kotwali on Friday, April 10, and fined some dishonest businesses a total of Tk 361,200 for their involvement in the illegal hoarding.

MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB's legal and media wing, provided this information on Saturday afternoon, April 11.

Operations will continue to stop such artificial crises and ease consumers' suffering, he said.
