Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that Jamaat-e-Islami does not have an agenda of its own but is committed to establishing a just and humane society modelled after the one founded by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), based on principles of justice, equality, and peace.

He made these remarks while addressing a mass communication programme organised by the party’s Dhaka City North unit on Thursday (April 24) in Ibrahimpur, Kafrul, and Mirpur areas of the capital. The areas fall under the Dhaka-15 parliamentary constituency, where Shafiqur is likely to contest in the next general election.

The event was part of the party’s declared "Mass Communication Fortnight."

Shafiqur Rahman emphasised that Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, is the ultimate owner of all power. He grants authority to whom He wills and withdraws it as He deems fit. He honours and humiliates individuals according to His divine wisdom.

Referring to the July Revolution, he said, “We witnessed this truth directly. Those in power indulged in unbridled oppression and torture, drunk on their authority. Instead of engaging their political opponents through ideological and political means, they resorted to murder, terrorism, anarchy, imprisonment, and oppression. They believed their reign of tyranny would last forever.”

He added, “But Allah does not grant eternal power to oppressors. Their well-organized throne of tyranny crumbled like a sand dam. This victory is a manifestation of Allah’s help. Now, it is our responsibility to unite and make this victory meaningful and sustainable.”

The Jamaat Amir urged everyone to work collectively for the liberation and welfare of the country and its people.

Shafiqur Rahman iterated that Jamaat-e-Islami is engaged in a long-term movement aimed at the liberation, progress, and welfare of the nation. He said, “Our goal is to establish a just and fair society in the country. We love this land, its people, and the nation. The welfare and liberation of the people are at the core of Jamaat’s political ideology.”

He explained that as humans, created as Ashraful Makhlukat (the best of creation), it is humanity’s responsibility to establish order in all aspects of life—individual, familial, societal, and state-level governance. Highlighting the harmony observed in nature under Allah’s control, he remarked, “Animals and birds in the zoo live in perfect order because they are under divine and human supervision. Human power, however, is not limitless; Allah alone possesses absolute and infinite power.”

The Jamaat chief also accepted completed supporter forms from newly joined activists and distributed party literature among them.

Dhaka City North unit Jamaat amir Mohammad Selim Uddin, Sramik Kalyan Federation Vice President Lashkar Mohammad Taslim, Central Majlish-e-Shura Member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Assistant Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, and Dr Fakhruddin Manik, among others, also spoke at the event.
