Marchers towards home ministry seek adviser's resignation
The Bangladesh Juba Adhikar Parishad, linked to Gana Adhikar Parishad, issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the resignation of Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury during a Thursday march towards the Home Ministry.
The group accuses Chowdhury of enabling former President Abdul Hamid, labelled a “murder accused” and “accomplice of fascism,” to flee the country with his son and brother-in-law at 3:05 am Wednesday.
Later, a 12-member delegation submitted a memorandum to Additional Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan, condemning the interim government for allegedly aiding Hamid’s escape.
Addressed to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, the memorandum demanded answers, action against culprits, and Hamid’s return within 48 hours, threatening nationwide protests if unmet.
“This government, born from the student-people’s uprising, is failing to deliver justice for the July massacre, ban the Awami League, or honour martyrs,” the memorandum stated, accusing Yunus of rehabilitating Awami League figures.
The group vowed to escalate agitation if the adviser does not resign honourably, holding the interim government accountable for any unrest.
