Ex-Juba Dal leader shot dead in Chattogram

A former leader of Juba Dal was shot dead by miscreants in Raozan upazila of Chattogram on Monday night.

The incident took place around 9:30 pm in front of his house in Purba Guzra Union of the upazila. The victim was identified as Jane Alam Sikder, 34, a former senior member of the Raozan upazila unit of Juba Dal.

According to police and local sources, Jane Alam was standing in the courtyard near the gate of his house before dinner when three youths arrived on a motorcycle.

Witnesses said the pillion rider got off the motorcycle and fired two shots at close range at Jane Alam’s chest. He collapsed on the ground after being hit. The assailants fled the scene immediately on the motorcycle.

Locals later rescued Jane Alam and attempted to take him to a private hospital in Chattogram city, but he died on the way.
