If there’re plans to seize polling centres, forget them: Nahid
Md Nahid Islam, candidate for Dhaka-11 from the 10-party alliance and convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said any attempts to seize polling centres would fail. “If there are plans to capture polling stations or tamper with ballot seals, forget them. Such schemes will not succeed. We will guard the polling centres and ensure the real victory of the people,” he stated.
He made the remarks on Friday (23 January) at 10:30 am during an election campaign rally in Shahjadpur area of the capital.
Highlighting key issues in the constituency, Nahid Islam said, “The primary problems here are traffic congestion, gas shortages, and extortion. We will solve these issues. Many playgrounds in the area have been occupied, and we will reclaim these fields so our children can play.”
He added, “We want to assure the people of Bangladesh that even after the mass uprising, we have not abandoned these fields, and we cannot be removed from them. We will remain as long as life remains.”
Regarding the upcoming referendum, he said, “In the public vote, we will all vote ‘Yes.’ ‘Yes’ stands for reform, good governance, and sovereignty. It represents the July mass uprising. By voting ‘Yes,’ we will amend the constitution to ensure good governance and reject inequality and corruption.”
Concluding his speech, Nahid Islam said, “Today, we have officially launched our campaign in Dhaka-11. We will reach out to the people. Insha’Allah, the 10-party alliance will enter parliament.”
