Bangladesh wrapped up a commanding victory over Pakistan before the Iftar break, producing a blistering run chase after a devastating bowling performance in the first ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

With a 40-minute Iftar interval scheduled, Bangladesh’s openers had other plans. Instead of heading to the dressing room for the break, Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Nazmul Hossain Shanto decided to finish the match early.

Chasing a modest target of 115 runs, the duo attacked the Pakistani bowlers in T20-style fashion, sealing the win in just 15.1 overs.

Bangladesh eventually reached the target, losing only two wickets, securing an emphatic eight-wicket victory with 34.5 overs to spare.

Rana’s five-wicket storm

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field, a decision that paid off spectacularly thanks to a fiery spell from Nahid Rana.

The young pacer ripped through Pakistan’s batting lineup, claiming five wickets and leaving the visitors struggling to build any partnerships.

Under constant pressure from the Bangladeshi bowlers, Pakistan were bowled out for just 114 runs in 30.4 overs.

The total marked Pakistan’s lowest score against Bangladesh in ODI cricket, highlighting the dominance of the home side.

Quick finish in Mirpur

In reply, Bangladesh lost Saif Hasan early, and Nazmul Hossain Shanto also departed after contributing to the rapid start.

But by then the damage had already been done.

With aggressive stroke play and quick running between the wickets, Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target long before the scheduled Iftar break, sending the Mirpur crowd into celebration.

The convincing victory gives Bangladesh an early lead in the ODI series and sets the tone for the matches ahead.
