Will sacrifice our lives like Abu Sayeed for country: Shafiqur

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said they are willing to sacrifice their lives like the July uprising martyr Abu Sayeed for the sake of the country.

"We will not bow down to the unjust, even if we die. The way Abu Sayeed sacrificed his life, we are ready to sacrifice our lives for the country; however, we will not mortgage an inch of the country's land to anyone," he vowed.

Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks while talking to journalists after visiting Shaheed Abu Sayeed's grave at Jafarpur Bamanpara in Rangpur's Pirganj around 9:00 am on Saturday, January 24.

"We are committed to implement their (Abu Sayeed and other martyrs) aspirations – a human Bangladesh free from corruption, terror, fascism, and aggression – and establish the justice for which they took to the streets," he said.
