Will ensure jobs for unemployed, not allowances: Shafiqur

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that the party will not provide allowances to unemployed youths; rather, it will ensure jobs for them if it forms the government.

"We will give jobs, not unemployment allowances, even if the state has money. Giving allowances will not lower, rather, increase unemployment," he said.

Dr Shafiqur made the remarks while addressing a rally for Jamaat candidate for Dhaka-6, Dr Abdul Mannan, at Dhupkhola playground in Old Dhaka on Sunday afternoon, January 25.

Mentioning that the country will be decorated like flowers if they are elected in the next elections, the Jamaat amir vowed, "We will not commit extortion and corruption, and will also not allow it. People have already decided who they will vote for."

Stressing that the nation will win if everyone gives a 'Yes' vote in the referendum, he said, "Yes means Ajadi (freedom), No means Golami (slavery). Our first vote would be Yes."

Speaking about vote rigging, Dr Shafiqur urged all to guard the polling centres and resist if anyone tries to occupy the voting centres.
