Thakurgaon Jamaat amir handed over to family
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Thakurgaon district unit Amir, Belal Uddin, who was detained along with around Tk 74 lakh, was handed over to his family with the money on Wednesday night, February 11.
The magistrate concerned did not take any action against him as the allegations were found to be true.
Delwar Hossain, Jamaat-nominated candidate for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, confirmed the matter in a Facebook post.
Delwar demanded that the administration seek an apology to the district amir and hoped the people would ensure a win for the scale, Jamaat's election symbol, by resisting all evil efforts.
Earlier Wednesday, the police detained Thakurgaon Jamaat Amir Belal along with around Tk 74 lakh at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari.
Later, the party alleged that the detention of Belal with money was “a drama staged by law enforcement agencies” to malign the party ahead of the 13th national parliamentary elections.
It also claimed that the district amir was tortured during detention.
