Prime Minister’s Political Adviser and BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, remains under intensive care as doctors monitor his condition.

He is scheduled to undergo another CT scan on Saturday, March 14, hospital sources said.

Professor Dr Shahabuddin Talukder of the hospital told the media that Abbas did not suffer a brain haemorrhage, but doctors have detected a brain infection.

He said that although a surgical procedure has been carried out successfully, any decision about taking him abroad for further treatment will depend on his physical condition.

Dr Talukder said Abbas is currently being kept under strict medical supervision and that a medical board is closely monitoring his health.

Doctors have also sought prayers from the country’s people for his speedy recovery.

Mirza Abbas was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara after he suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness during iftar last Wednesday. He has been receiving treatment at the hospital since then.
