The authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have so far cancelled 475 international flights, with 24 more flights scrapped in the 24 hours, due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Sources in the HSIA said Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan temporarily closed their airspace from February 28 amid security risks after the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which directly affected the Dhaka airport.

Flights cancelled on Saturday, March 14, include two of Qatar Airways, two of Air Arabia (Sharjah, UAE), four of Gulf Air (Bahrain), four of Qatar Airways (Qatar), four of Emirates Airlines (UAE), four of Jazeera Airways (Kuwait) and four of Fly Dubai (UAE).
