BCB chief denies Cricinfo report on Bangladesh play in India
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has denied a report by ESPNcricinfo claiming that the ICC told Bangladesh it will need to travel to India to play in the T20 World Cup or risk forfeiting points.
Speaking to Jago News on Wednesday morning, Aminul Islam said, “The ICC has never said that Bangladesh must go to India to play the World Cup. We are in contact with several ICC officials on a personal level.”
He added, “The ICC has asked us why we will not go to India. In our emails, we have clearly stated our security concerns. This is why we will not be traveling to India.”
The BCB President further explained that the ICC requested a detailed account of BCB’s security concerns late last night. “We will provide the ICC with a full explanation of why BCB have concerns and why Bangladesh players are not safe on Indian soil. Only after that will the ICC make any decision. But the sudden claim that the ICC told Bangladesh it must play in India or risk a walkover in the World Cup is completely false,” he said.
