Govt plans to launch 5G internet service
Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar today said the government has a plan to launch 5G internet service in the country as per election manifesto of the incumbent government.
The minister said this while responding to a query placed by treasury bench lawmaker Waresat Hossen Belal of Netrokhona-5 in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, reports BSS.
As per the manifesto, he said the present government has announced to launch 5G internet services to keep pace with the developed world, he said adding until now the 5G internet service is yet to be launched commercially across the world.
Meanwhile, the minister said Bangladesh has formally launched 4G internet services since February 19, last year. About 65 percent area of the country are now under the 4G internet coverage, he added.
The mobile phone operators have already launched the 4G internet services at the division level across the country, the minister added.
