Gold price rises by Tk 2,157 per bhori
Gold prices in the country have risen by Tk 2,157 per bhori following seven consecutive rounds of price reductions, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 237,012 per bhori (11.664 grams) after the latest adjustment. The increase comes after a cumulative decline of Tk 35,575 over the previous seven revisions.
BAJUS said the price hike reflects a rise in the price of pure gold (tejobi gold) in the local market.
The revised prices, however, came into effect at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28, following a decision by the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
The updated rates were later announced in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
In the latest adjustment, the price of 21-carat gold increased by Tk 2,100 to Tk 226,282 per bhori, while 18-carat gold rose by Tk 1,750 to Tk 193,914 per bhori. Traditional gold also increased by Tk 1,458 per bhori, reaching Tk 157,931.
Silver prices, however, remained unchanged across all categories.
