Barishal Univ VC, pro-VC, treasurer ousted amid student protests

The government has relieved Barishal University’s Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Treasurer from their duties following relentless student protests that exposed deep discontent with the institution’s leadership.
The decision, announced late Tuesday, aims to quell unrest and restore stability at the university, a key educational hub in southern Bangladesh.
A notification issued at 9:30 PM by ASM Kasem, Senior Assistant Secretary of the University Branch, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, confirmed the immediate removal of the trio.
The move follows weeks of demonstrations, with students demanding accountability over alleged mismanagement and lack of transparency in university operations.
