The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations began across Bangladesh on Thursday morning.

A total of 12,51,111 students from eleven education boards—comprising nine general education boards, one Madrasa Board, and one Technical Education Board—are expected to sit for the exams at 2,797 centres nationwide.

According to the examination schedule, on the first day, the Bangla First Paper exam is being held under the nine general education boards at 1,605 centres. Under the Madrasa Board, the Quran Majid exam is taking place at 459 centres, while under the Technical Education Board, the HSC (BM/BMT) exam is being conducted at 733 centres.

Exam Guidelines and Instructions

Several instructions have been issued to ensure smooth conduct of the exams:

• Students must enter the examination halls at least 30 minutes before the exam starts.

• If a student arrives late for a valid reason, the reason for delay, along with the student's name, roll number, and entry time, must be recorded and reported to the respective education board on the same day.

• The question paper code will be sent to authorised officials via SMS 25 minutes before the exam begins.

• No one, except the centre-in-charge, is allowed to carry mobile phones or electronic devices inside the examination centre. The centre-in-charge may carry a non-camera mobile phone only.

The Inter-Education Board has also issued additional instructions:

• Students must be present at the centre at least 30 minutes before the exam begins.

• Information on the OMR sheet must be filled out correctly.

• Answer scripts must not be folded.

• Mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside exam centres.

• The multiple-choice (MCQ) and creative (CQ) sections will be held consecutively without a break.

• Students must pass both theory and practical parts separately.

• Students can only appear for the subjects listed on their admit cards and are not allowed to sit for exams at their own institutions.

• Attendance sheets must be properly signed.
