65% votes cast in JnUCSU polls
A total of 65 per cent of votes were cast in elections to the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU), and Nawab Faizunnesa Chowdhurani Hall Union polls saw 77 per cent voter turnout.
Assistant Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman provided this information on Tuesday evening, January 6.
Earlier, voting began at 9:00 am and continued till 3:00 pm without any break at all 38 polling centres.
After the completion of the voting, ballot papers were taken to the central control room set up at the university’s Central Auditorium with tight security, and vote counting is now underway using digital OMR machines.
There are a total of 16,500 voters in the polls.
The election was initially scheduled to be held on December 30; however, it was rescheduled to January 6 following the death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
