Man found hanging from tree at DU

Police recovered the body of a man hanging from a mahogany tree in the Dhaka University (DU) area on Wednesday morning. His identity has not yet been confirmed. Authorities believe the man, approximately 45 years old, may have been a vagrant and could have died by suicide.

Sheikh Hadiuzzaman, Sub Inspector of Shahbagh police station, said they received information around 8:45 am about a man hanging from a mahogany tree on the footpath opposite the Mathematics Department of Dhaka University. The police responded immediately and removed the body from the tree. After completing legal formalities, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy.

Hadiuzzaman also mentioned that, according to locals, the man was a vagrant who had been living on the footpath in that area and had mental health issues. It is initially believed that he climbed the tree and hanged himself sometime on Tuesday night. However, a detailed investigation is ongoing.
