Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, assured that those involved in the attack on students and the public in Gazipur will face the maximum punishment.

He made these remarks to reporters while visiting the injured at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday (February 8).

The Home Affairs Adviser stated that those responsible for the attack on students and the public will be brought to justice, and arrangements will be made to ensure they receive the harshest penalty.

Prior to speaking, the Adviser visited the hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured students. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sajjat Ali.

Around 10:15 am, they visited the wards in the Orthopedic Department and the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department on the 6th floor of DMCH to inquire about the injured individuals. They left the hospital at around 10:45 am. Present at the hospital during this time was the Director of Dhaka Medical, Brigadier General Asaduzzaman Khan.

It is noteworthy that, at least 15 people were injured after being beaten by locals when a mob vandalised the house of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur.
