5 Covid deaths, 36 new cases recorded in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government reported five more deaths from COVID-19, and 36 new cases in the last 24 hours (from Saturday 8:00am to Sunday 8:00am).

Of the dead, three were from Chattogram, and one was from Dhaka and Rajshahi respectively, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release today.

With this, a total of 16 people died from coronavirus this year and the total number of COVID-related deaths since the pandemic spread in the country rose to 29,515. 

The new cases were found after testing 621 samples in the past day, taking the total cases to 20,51,978 so far.

Bangladesh first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020 that killed 29,500 people in the country to date.

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
