All anti-discrimination committees suspended except central

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has suspended the activities of all its committees across the country, except the central committee.

Rifat Rashid, president of the student organization, made the announcement at an urgent press conference held in front of the Shahbagh National Museum in Dhaka.

He said, “Along with yesterday’s incident, we have witnessed several cases where attempts were made to misuse the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement for various wrongdoings. Since our inception, we have warned that such acts would not be tolerated. However, we later observed that, instigated by different political parties, some individuals became involved in corruption. At this point, controlling the situation has become nearly impossible for us.”

Announcing the dissolution of committees, Rifat said, “In light of the situation, an urgent meeting of the organogram was convened. Four members were present, and based on their collective advice, we reached a decision. From today, all activities across the country under the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, except those of the central committee, are officially suspended.”

He added, “During this time, we will sit to decide how future activities will be conducted and to prepare a framework. This platform will not tolerate any corruption or irregularities.”
