Govt issues gazette forming 22-member pay commission

The government has issued a gazette notification forming a 22-member Pay Commission to determine a new salary structure for officers and employees of government, semi-government, autonomous organisations, state-owned banks and financial institutions, government-funded universities, and state-owned industrial enterprises.

The commission will review existing salaries, allowances, and other benefits, and submit a set of recommendations to the government within six months from the date of its first meeting.

The gazette notification was issued by the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance on Sunday (July 27).

The “National Pay Commission 2025” has been constituted under Section 15 of the Government Service Act, 2018, to cover all classes of officers and employees under the national pay scale.

Former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan has been appointed chairman of the commission. Former Secretary Dr Mohammad Ali Khan, former Comptroller and Auditor General Md Moslem Uddin, and former Ambassador Md Fazlul Karim have been appointed full-time members.

Earlier on July 24, the government formed the pay commission for employees and officials under the National Pay Scale.

The decision was made at a regular meeting of the Advisory Council, led by Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
