Police seek 7-day remand for quizzing Anis Alamgir
Police on Monday sought a seven-day remand for quizzing journalist Anis Alamgir, who was arrested in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Uttara West Police Station.
The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Md Moniruzzaman, submitted the remand application to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka on Monday, December 15.
Sub-Inspector Shamim of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) prosecution department said a hearing on the remand prayer is expected shortly.
Anis Alamgir was taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning on Sunday evening. He later told the media over the phone around 8:30 pm that he was at the DB office, after being picked up earlier from a gym in the Dhanmondi area.
DMP Detective Branch Chief Md Shafiqul Islam said a total of five people, including Anis Alamgir, have been named as accused in the case.
