High Court judge Rezaul Hasan resigns
Judge Md Rezaul Hasan of the Supreme Court’s High Court Division has resigned from his position. His resignation letter, submitted to the relevant officials at the Supreme Court on Monday (March 30), has been forwarded to the President.
The Supreme Court authorities confirmed the development on Tuesday (March 31).
Earlier, Rezaul Hasan faced a complaint filed with the Supreme Judicial Council. The complaint, lodged by Shah Group Chairman KM Mujibul Haque, alleged corruption, misconduct, and abuse of power. It requested the Council to investigate the matter and recommend appropriate action under the Constitution if the allegations were proven.
According to the complaint, Rezaul Hasan showed biased behaviour in handling two company cases in 2010 and 2011. In one case, the judgment included arguments attributed to a senior lawyer who was not present; this judgment was later overturned by the Appellate Division. In another case, 1.3 million shares were canceled without including the petitioner’s wife as a party, which the petitioner claimed was completely against the principles of justice.
