Akbar resigns as Press Minister in London

Akbar Hossain has resigned from his position as Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in London, citing personal and family reasons.

In a Facebook post shared on Friday night, Akbar said he was unable to continue his responsibilities in London due to personal circumstances, emphasising that his decision was entirely voluntary and not linked to any external factors.

He was appointed to the role in November 2024 by the interim government on a two-year contractual basis, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The terms of the appointment required him to relinquish any other professional or business engagements.

Prior to his diplomatic role, Akbar had a long career in journalism, serving as a senior journalist at BBC Bangla in Dhaka.
