Jamaat secy gen Parwar's X account hacked

The X (formerly Twitter) account of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has been hacked, days after a similar cyberattack targeted the X handle of the party’s amir, Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Assistant Secretary General of the party and head of its Central Media and Publicity Department, confirmed the matter in a statement issued on Tuesday, February 3.

According to the statement, unauthorised access to Parwar’s account resulted in the publication of objectionable content. The incident is part of a series of cyberattacks targeting the social media accounts of the party's leaders. 

Zubair said that the post was made at approximately 9:03 pm through device-level hacking. The content was removed shortly after the party’s central social media team detected the breach.

He further said the party is preparing to pursue legal action over the incident.
