2 election officers held at Jamaat leader's home

An assistant presiding officer and a polling officer were detained at the home of a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in Lakshmipur on Wednesday night, February 11, who went there for reportedly having food.

The detainees are Assistant Presiding Officer MA Osmani and polling officer Md Iqbal Hossain. They are assigned to Nalthagi Madinatul Ulum Islamia Madrasa polling centre in Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency.

The detainees are currently in the custody of Chandraganj police station, said Hossain Mohammad Rayhan Kajemi, additional superintendent of police (administration and finance), Lakshmipur.

According to sources in the district police, the election officers went to the home to have supper. On information, the executive magistrate, Kyathowai Prue Marma, detained them for negligence of duty.
