Building manager detained over Bailey Road fire

Police have detained the manager of Green Cozy Cottage in connection with Thursday’s fire in the building on Bailey Road in Dhaka, which claimed the lives of 46 people.

Utpol Barua, Officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Saturday.

He said the building manager has been detained a while ago. He is being interrogated over the fire incident.

Earlier on Friday, police detained Kacchi Bhai restaurant manager Jisan and two Chumuk restaurant owners - Anwarul Haque and Shakil Ahmed - in connection with the Bailey Road fire. They are also being interrogated. 

In a media briefing on Friday night, Additional Police Commissioner Dr Kh Mohid Uddin said 46 people have died so far in the fire incident. Of them, 20 were men, 18 were women, and 8 were children.
