Lawyer stabbed to death by teen gang

A lawyer was stabbed to death by a teenage gang in the Girzapara area of Moulvibazar on Sunday night.

The deceased, Sujon Mia, was a resident of Purbo Hilalpur village in the district and the son of Md Zahirul Islam.

The incident took place around 11:30 pm on the premises of Moulvibazar Municipality, where a group of teenagers attacked him with knives and fled the scene.

According to police and local sources, Sujon Mia was standing in front of a fuchka (street food) stall inside the municipality premises when the gang suddenly attacked and stabbed him before fleeing. The motive behind the murder is still unknown.

Locals rescued him and took him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station Minhaj Uddin said a report on the condition of the body has been prepared and it has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. An investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against those involved once they are identified.
